As a first-time legislator in Springfield, I made ethics reform one of my key legislative priorities during my first term. We made several significant changes that have shaken up business as usual in Springfield through the passage of a robust ethics reform package. We did things like prohibit fundraising during legislative session and close loopholes that allowed legislators to work as lobbyists on behalf of companies trying to get legislation passed. These practices undermined public trust in our legislators and were totally unacceptable. As your Senator, I will continue my work cleaning up Springfield and making it work for people, not politicians.
